I'm just back after spending 3 days in Newquay. Fistral was absolutuely banging with big waves (5-6ft) on Tuesday, slightly smaller waves on Wed and then really nice fun clean 2ft waves yesterday. The Cribbar had waves coming through but was not really on.
Check out this picture of Fistral beach pumping through:
The international surfing centre at Fistral beach is such a great facility. The beach itself offers consistant waves, there are hot showers and toilets, a cafe, surf shops, a thriving surf school, surf equipment hire and class room facilities at the BSA HQ etc etc.
Everytime I go down to the international surfing centre at Fistral beach, I come back thinking the same thing:
Why havn't we got a similar set up in Wales?
I'm sure that if we had a similar setup it would do wonders for Surfing in Wales.
Questions:
Do you think it would be of benifit to welsh surfing to have such a facility? Why?
Where do you think a welsh centre could be situated?
Who should head it up?
Is there funding available?
Any other thoughts?
I would be really interested to have your thoughts, please leave your comments below...Tidy!
