Well I'm Dan Williams owner/manager & head coach at Progress Surfing Swansea & Gower surf school and just thought i'd write a little piece just to help people to decide what kind of instructor they would like to put thier trust in.
Ok so how experienced is your coach? Yes they might be qualified but how much can you depend on what they are telling you?
Are they insured adequatley? Of course all BSA approved surf schools hold public liability insurance at least to the value of £5,000,000. However many non-bsa approved surfing providers are left unregulated and so might well be under insured.
How up to date are they in their training? Ok so most instructors do some kind of beach lifesaving certificate once every three years but given an incident where they have to respond quickly and effectively will their training really going to take over?
Surfing lessons can be expensive... too expensive to throw money at lessons which just won't get you anywhere. Also you only get one life (or that of children) So then who are you going to put your trust in?
Well this is me...Dan Williams

We have an annual review done on our school and spot checks conducted by the BSA- We have been approved for the past 6 years!
Most surfing providers are not properly BSA approved and would not meet the standard required even if they were to apply.
Our reputation for being the 'Friendliest and most customer focussed surf school on Gower' is hard earned and is justified.
Our unblemmished record for safety speaks for itself.
