Progress Surf, the only BSA surf school on Gower able to use Llangennith & Caswell beach

The mobile nature of our surf school and the permissions we hold, mean that we can offer our surfing students the very best conditions available for learning to surf on any given day.

It has been written that Rhosilli beach actually has easier access than Llangennith!

The Truth...Local Gower surfers hardly ever use the Rhosilli end of the beach. 

This is because the access is very difficult down a 200ft cliff! 

The waves are also very week and not well suited to surf lessons, especially during the summer months.

What would you rather do...

1. Walk a short distance along a specially installed board walk to the beach (as at Hill End, Llangennith) 
   or
2. Climb down and then back up a 200ft cliff?   Over 100 poorly maintained steps. Wearing a Hot wetsuit. Carrying an 8 foot surfboard. Plus... Anything you'd normally take to the beach with you lunch, towels, camera, sun cream, drinking water etc etc. Your leash dragging along the ground behind you and tripping you up ?

I know which one I'd go for!

Llangennith is the place to be in the summer... and is the main stay for Gower surfers!

Llangennith has the most consistant surf on Gower....ask anyone.

Gower and Swansea surf school are based at Llangennith and Caswell beaches

Caswell Bay, Swansea

Progress Surf use two beaches on the Gower penninsula.  Both beaches offer consistantly good conditions for learning to surf.

We tend to base ourselves primarily at Llangennith although we use Caswell as the weather and our groups needs dictate.

For after school classes and for groups to which travel time is an important factor we use Caswell Bay.  Caswell is nearer to Swansea than Llangennith and so provides a good option to groups who want a surf and then back to town.

Caswell is a lifeguarded beach during the summer months. Also all of our instructors are fully qualified beach lifeguards and are CRB checked

However during the summer months you will find most of the suring fraturnity at Llangennith. We use Llangennith more during the summer months as it picks up more swell than any of the other Gower beaches and provides perfect conditions for learning!  Camping is also available at Hill End camp site which is right by the beach Read More

Llangennith is at the North end of Rhossilli Bay

Both the beaches we use are regualarly featured as being some of the best tourist destinations in the U.K.

 Both beaches have their blue falg which is an award to show that they are clean, safe and have good water quality.
