There's snow hope for some with an icy reception for others!
Well yesterday we looked out of the window and saw the snow starting to come down. It was frickin freezing in my house so I cranked up the heating and did what any normal person would do, put the kettle on and put my feet up.
After some time of sitting about I got a bit bored and restless, so I thought I'd check out the surf report. The surf report looked good for a little spot I know, (Sorry I'll never talk). I wasn't going to go untill I looked on FaceBook and saw a few comments by surfers saying 'Not going surfing today, it's too cold'. I thought Hmm good waves and not too many people awesome!
At the same time I was looking at some pics of Thurso East up in Scotland. My God that place goes off! It looks really cold up there this time of year. I figured if those guys can do it then I can do it. The sea temp here in South Wales is a luxury 9 degrees, it'd be like a bath!
So I drove down saw that our wind indicator the 'Lake of Truth' was frozen! Parked up and walked to the break through a blizzard. When I got to the break I was supprised to see 10 hard core guys in the water! All good guys though and the session went off!
Roads were a bit dodgy on the way home and I had to get chaged in the snow! Fffrreeking...Chuffed I went though coz the waves were pumping! Sorry about picture quality, my phone is crap!
When I looked out this morning I saw my van all covered in snow! We were really excited this morn by the thought of going sledging and building snow men... So surfing is on hold. The roads are a bit ropey anyway and it's gone south westerly.
Tommorow and Thursday as long as I can get tracksion under my tires I'm going surfing!
No such thing as cold, just the wrong equipemnt!
